Five new (+)-oleuropeic acid derivatives, eucalmaidins A−E (15), together with 12 known compounds (617), were isolated from the fresh leaves of Eucalyptus maideni. Structures of the new compounds were determined on the basis of spectroscopic analyses (HSQC, HMBC, and 1H−1H COSY), chemical degradation, and enzymatic hydrolysis. Of the tested compounds, only quercetin showed slight anti-herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1) activity in vitro.
