Direct writing of rare-earth (RE)-doped nanophosphor patterns was realized using an atmospheric pressure microplasma jet via plasma dissociation of acetylacetonate compounds. Rapid and localized deposition of crystalline Y2O3-based particles on substrates was achieved through digitally controlled electrode movement, thus forming arbitrary fluorescent patterns in desired positions. Characteristic and intense emissions of Tb3+ and Eu3+ were detected, referring the effective doping of Tb3+ and Eu3+ in Y2O3. This study provides a simple, flexible, and efficient approach for the construction of fluorescent patterns on materials.
