Thermal reaction of RSH with Et3SiH in the presence
of a catalytic amount of CpFe(CO)2Me exhibited dehydrogenative
S–Si coupling to give RSSiEt3. A plausible reaction
mechanism is proposed involving an Fe(IV) complex with SR, SiEt3, and H ligands, from which reductive elimination of SR and
SiEt3 takes place to give RSSiEt3.
