Deprotonation of group 4 monocyclopentadienyl metal acetamidinates can be achieved in high yield using sterically encumbered bases to provide enolate complexes that can subsequently be reacted with electrophiles to produce several new classes of metal amidinates that are not accessible by conventional routes.
