A versatile synthesis of PI(3,4)P₂, PI(4,5)P₂, and PI(3,4,5)P₃ is disclosed, starting from l-(−)-quebrachitol, a byproduct of latex production. The crystalline nature of most intermediates and the utilization of inexpensive protecting groups facilitate this synthetic route and its scale-up.
