A wide variety of β,γ-unsaturated ketones of E configuration have been obtained in good to excellent yields via KO^tBu/DMSO promoted α-vinylation of aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, and alkyl aromatic (heteroaromatic) ketones with diverse arylacetylenes.
