Tp‘PtMe2H (1) reacts with Et3Si−H to form Tp‘Pt(SiEt3)(H)2 (2), which serves as a precursor to Tp‘PtH3 (3). Cleavage of the Pt−SiEt3 bond of 2 with methanol provides a clean route to Tp‘PtH3 (3), a rare N-supported monomeric platinum(IV) trihydride complex.
