and copper
acetate monohydrate yields copper-1,3-bis(4-carboxyphenyl)-5-ethoxybenzene(DMF),
and upon removal of coordinated DMF molecules, copper-1,3-bis(4-carboxyphenyl)-5-ethoxybenzene
is attained. The compound does not form as a traditional three-dimensional
metal–organic framework and instead produces a “layered
coordination framework”, where the individual layers are separated
by the ethyl chains on the linker. The synthesis and crystallographic
characterization of the material are described.
