Novel trinuclear metal complexes of formula (MeM){CH2[C(CH3)NNC(S)(NR)]2}(MMe2)2 (M = Al, R = Me (1); M = Ga, R = Me (2); M = Al, R = Et (3): M = Ga, R = Et (4); M = Al, R = Ph (5); M = Ga, R = Ph (6)) result when the ligands 2,4-bis(4-N-alkylthiosemicarbazono)pentane are mixed with trimethylaluminum and -gallium reagents and were characterized by 1H, 13C, and 27Al NMR, mass spectra, and elemental analyses. The structure of the compound 1 has been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The structural data reveal that compound 1 is a trinuclear aluminum compound with coordination numbers of 4 and 5.
