A new organocatalytic
route to cyclobutadienes from α,β-unsaturated
aldehydes and ynals is described. This protocol
allows a broad substrate scope and mild conditions. Furthermore, a
proposed mechanism of a dienamine–iminium–allenamine
cascade process is discussed.
