An
iron-mediated direct annulation between methylene ketones and diethanolamines
was developed for the efficient synthesis of N-(2-hydroxyethyl)
pyrroles. This protocol shows high efficiency, operational simplicity,
good functional group compatibility as well as broad substrates scope.
