Tp‘PtMe<sub>2</sub>H (<b>1</b>) reacts with Et<sub>3</sub>Si−H to form
Tp‘Pt(SiEt<sub>3</sub>)(H)<sub>2</sub> (<b>2</b>), which serves as a precursor to
Tp‘PtH<sub>3</sub> (<b>3</b>). Cleavage of the Pt−SiEt<sub>3</sub> bond of <b>2</b> with
methanol provides a clean route to Tp‘PtH<sub>3</sub> (<b>3</b>), a rare
N-supported monomeric platinum(IV) trihydride complex.
