In a typical example, reaction of phenyl iodide with methyl acrylate in <i>N-</i>methylpyrrolidinone (NMP) at ca. 130 °C provides the Heck product with a turnover number of up to 106. In addition, the coupling reaction of 4-bromoacetophenone with olefin in a quantitative yield was achieved by using the same catalyst in the presence of sodium iodide.
