Arylation of 3-substituted 1,3-propanesultams gave rise to high yields and high diastereomeric ratios, leading to the thermodynamically favored <i>cis</i> product. The arylation was broadly applicable to various electron-rich and electron-poor (hetero)­aromatic iodides.
